Since I began sewing a few years ago, patterns scurrrrred me. It wasn't until I began my job at the locally owned fabric store that I work at that I was able to get up enough courage to sew something from a pattern.

This retro, swingy dress is flirty and fun to wear & twirl about it in. (Just don't twirl tooooo much... or you know... ;))
I would say this pattern is for the intermediate seamstress.. only because you have to deal with elastic AND a zipper (which by the way, I was dreading, but it was super simple!). I inched the hem-line up a leeeetle further than I normally would... but, hey! its Summer!
the details:
fabric: Sis Boom Crazy Love
pattern: The Jamie Dress
prep time: 1.5 hours
sewing time: 2.5 hours
Jennifer and I have been chatting and since she JUST released a brand, spankin' NEW line of fabric... she's offering one of YOU 3 yards of your choice from her new line, Super Fly!
Think about it. 3 yards will make THIS dress... so all you'd have to purchase is the pattern. Um, y'all. That's a $10 dress!!!

And guess what? I have some fun giveaways (with designers!!), guest posts, and other cool stuff lined up all about sewing patterns!
At the end of the Summer, I want to have a sew along with you all & I'd love your suggestions for what we should sew together! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll announce what the sew-along will be for and y'all can get started picking fabrics!!

i definitely want to try the jamie dress in a large floral print for a retro feel!
ReplyDeleteOh Caroline, that is such a stunning dress! I would love to create this dress with a crochet fabric!
ReplyDeleteSigh, you are awesome and make me believe I can sew a dress that I can wear out in public.
ReplyDeleteCool! I think that you picked my favorite dress pattern (Jamie Dress) on her site! I'd love to try to tackle my first clothing project with this one!
ReplyDeleteI think that I would make the Marissa pattern for girls.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!
ReplyDeleteLove them all! I think I'd make the Meghan Peasant.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the Rebecca Shift dress, it's so pretty. Honestly tho, it's hard to choose. They are all so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love that! I'm not going to lie, the waist band scares me just a little bit... but patterns scare me too! I have the hardest time being patient enough to cut straight, iron seams, etc etc. The Meghan Peasant dress looks like it may be a little more my level. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun Summer Dress! So cute! I love SIS BOOM and have a ton of their dresses on my pattern "wish list". I love the Dana Top & Dress. I would love a sew along & would definitely participate. I feel like I am always sewing for my children or for my children/baby Etsy shop, so I would love to make something for myself. Dress, shirt, skirt, scarf...Anything to make me feel like a hot momma! haha! Can't wait to see what you choose!
ReplyDeleteI think I would try the Jamie dress... although I would probably mess it up :P
ReplyDeleteGreat dress and fabulous new fabric line.
ReplyDeleteWords cannot describe how much I adore the fabric line! I would love to make the Rebecca Shift since I'm in need of a simple dress that fits well.

ReplyDeleteLoving the Lucy, Angie & Jamie patterns!
