How Does it Sew?! :: Merry

Since I began sewing a few years ago, patterns scurrrrred me. It wasn't until I began my job at the locally owned fabric store that I work at that I was able to get up enough courage to sew something from a pattern.

SO, this Summer I have deemed the Summer of sewing patterns!
And guess what? I have some fun giveaways (with designers!!), guest posts, and other cool stuff lined up all about sewing patterns!

NEXT Thursday I'm going to announce the pattern we'll be using for the sew-along in just a few short weeks.
Can you believe its already almost August!??!!??!
I may continue this series as a monthly thing after the Summer. What do you think?

Today's post is on Thimble Blossom's Merry pattern.
YUP. Christmas in July. What could be better?
Why am I already dreaming in red & green, you ask?
Its because I work at a fabric store and we have to keep ahead of the seasons. Valentine's fabric in November, Halloween fabric in March, and Christmas fabric in May!
I kind of love it, really.
This year there are tons of super fun prints for Christmas.
For my stockings, I chose prints from Kate Spain's Joy line!

Aren't they fun & festive?
For now, they'll stay at the shop.. but come Christmas time, they will be hanging on our *decorated* mantel!

the details:
fabric: Kate Spain, Joy
pattern: Merry
prep-time: 20 minutes
sewing time: 30 minutes

See you next week, friends & happy sewing!

  1. I absolutely love your Summer of Patterns ideas. Please kept them going all year! And I'm do happy you posted about stockings in the summer. Having a handmade Christmas is much more attainable starting in July! Was this pattern simple? And were the instructions easy to follow?

    1. Hey, Malisa! yes. This pattern was super easy. I skipped some of the steps (like quilting the front and inside together, but for the most part i followed the pattern!

  2. So cute! I can't wait to get married next summer and then have my own house/mantel to decorate and make my own stockings! :)
