Since I began sewing a few years ago, patterns scurrrrred me. It wasn't until I began my job at the locally owned fabric store that I work at that I was able to get up enough courage to sew something from a pattern.

One tip :: the next time I sewed this beauty, I added a couple of ties to the side seams. This way I was able to tie it at the back & make me look less-pregnant ;)
(and if you saw me at Snap, you saw me rockin' it in this Schoolhouse Tunic over my favorite pair of white pants!)
the details:
pattern: Schoolhouse Tunic
fabric: Kaffe Fassett
prep time: 1 hour
sewing time: 1 hour, 45 minutes
This tunic is great for summer over your swimsuit at the pool, in the fall over a pair of leggings//tights, in the winter over a pair of thicker jeans, and in the spring over some white pants.
YEP. Its basically the most versatile pattern ever!
SO, this Summer I have deemed the Summer of sewing patterns!
And guess what? I have some fun giveaways (with designers!!), guest posts, and other cool stuff lined up all about sewing patterns!
At the end of the Summer, I want to have a sew along with you all & I'd love your suggestions for what we should sew together! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll announce what the sew-along will be for and y'all can get started picking fabrics!!

So, do you ever start a project and get halfway//three fourths of the way finished with it and you are 100% more frustrated with life than you were before you began?
That happened this week.
I was sewing an Anna Maria Horner pattern for an adorable top and I just couldn't get it.
Finally, I decided to scrap it.
I was tired. Frustrated. And just plain annoyed.
That top was supposed to be featured today, but instead you're getting a glimpse into one of the very first paper patterns I ever sewed.

The pattern I used is the Schoolhouse Tunic made by Sew Liberated & the fabric is a pretty Kaffe Fassett print!
The pattern itself was written really well. Its a GREAT pattern for a beginner seamstress or pattern reader. There are no confusing instructions, no zippers, and the elastic is totally optional (I opted out)!
