The rest of the week I'm going to be sharing the handmade outfits I wore at QuiltCon. Hope you guys don't get sick of seeing my face all over here, but I absolutely loved how all of my outfits turned out, sooo I'm going to share them!
Here's the thing. Wearing handmade is hard sometimes. You don't want it to look handmade, but in a sense, there's no way around it (especially when you're wearing bright fabrics that other people have seen before). Its been a struggle for me since I began sewing clothes for myself. I'm always asking David, "Does this look like I made it?!" I have to say that recently (maybe the past 6 months) is the first time I've really felt confident in my handmade threads.

So here goes day ONE!
Pattern: Schoolhouse Tunic by Sew Liberated
Fabric: Michael Miller Spa Geo in Coral
Tank & Shoes: Target // Skinnies: Anthro (Pilcro brand)
I have made this pattern SEVERAL other times, but I love it so much, that I keep making it!
For QuiltCon, it was a great pattern to showcase some of the beautiful fabric we have in our shop.
Although it is handmade and its kind of obvious, I was still confident to wear it out after the show during the day!
Stay tuned for a few more outfits this week!

ReplyDeleteReally cute! I am just getting into sewing clothing so I can't wait to see what you wore all week!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great on you! I've been trying to be more confident by wearing my handmade clothes more often. It can be really hard, but I enjoy wearing what I make!
ReplyDeleteI can remember back when I first started sewing {about 20 years ago <--- HOLY CRAP I'M OLD!} that was one of my concerns as well. The ability for people to look at my clothes and say... she made that. I guess it's a confidence thing, because now it's not such an issue. I think you look fantastic in this!! I'm excited to see the rest of the weeks outfits!
ReplyDeleteI definitely get that-- making something that doesn't look like you made it!! Totally my goal when I sew something :)
ReplyDeleteYou're cute. Love that shirt!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great top! Seriously makes me want to pull out my sewing machine and begin again.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this tunic! You look terrific :)
ReplyDeleteI must get this pattern! Everytime I see it on I love it! My b-day is in a couple of weeks, so that may be my present to myself! :-) I love your fabric choice..so FUN for the Spring! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is very cute. And definitely looks handmande ... and NOT homemade (with all the negative conotations that go with that word). ~Major Moma
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I'm always trying to make homemade things that don't look homemade haha. This turned out great. I really love the shape of the pattern too.
